The Substack Voice & Welcome Report

Bridge the gap between strong writing and reader recognition — without flattening your voice to fit someone else’s formula.

If you’re here, I’m going to assume you already have some serious writing chops.

You know how to shape an essay. You know how to pull a story together. You know how to make discoveries on the page that others miss.

You’ve earned the confidence to put your thinking into a public space — and yet something feels off about what’s happening inside your Substack publication.

You sense that what happens when you write — your insight, your way of thinking, your voice — isn’t translating into the way people subscribe, upgrade or stay connected over time.

This report exists to bridge that gap.

You might recognize yourself here

  • You’re an experienced communicator — a journalist, marketer, author, corporate leader or seasoned creator

  • Your work has depth, but your Substack publication feels like it’s not reflecting that depth in the world

  • You find yourself explaining instead of inviting

  • You publish with a professional goal or creative aspiration — even if revenue isn’t the center yet

  • You know your voice could be distinct and magnetic, but something stops it from landing

  • You want to “zig where others zag” — not for novelty, but because your thinking genuinely runs in a different direction

You’re someone with integrity and vision. You want to show up as yourself — clearly, honestly and in a way that moves readers to action.

What I do — and why this works

I’m a publishing and business advisor — with the foundation of my work in editorial craft. For nearly 20 years, my job has been to listen for what’s most alive, what’s unusually strong and distinct and what’s getting buried under the pressure to sound a certain way.

Now I use that same skill in higher-stakes contexts: helping writers and business owners make clear decisions about how they present themselves, how they build trust and how their publishing supports what they’re trying to create.

When I came to Substack, I started with 12 readers — and more than a decade of professional experience as a trained journalist and managing editor. What became clear to me early on was that this platform doesn’t reward noise. It rewards resonance — voice that readers feel before they fully understand it.

So I stopped chasing tactics and started focusing on my creative process and voice. Not because formulas are bad — but because what activates readers is a real voice that feels familiar in its specificity and compelling in its clarity.

That’s the approach behind the Substack Voice & Welcome Report.

This work doesn’t teach you how to write. It makes your work readable, recognizable and magnetic to the people you actually want to reach.

The Precision Discovery Process

This work starts with listening — not guessing.

Step 1: Precision Discovery

  • 45–60 minute deep intake — through a rigorous intake form, I’m going to ask you to explore your voice, context, aspirations, barriers, doubts and audience intersection

  • 60-minute 1:1 live call — a focused conversation to surface what is already present but not yet visible

This is where I’m listening for the patterns that weave through your work and voice and inspiration. It’s my own process for finding the through line in what sets you apart.

Step 2: Distillation

After our call, I step away to synthesize and translate — and I deliver your report (a PDF, via email) within two weeks.

This is not rushed. It’s distilled.

What you’ll receive

✦ Voice-Forward First Impressions

  • Bio (short + long)

  • Publication description (headline + two versions)

This ensures that your first encounter with a new reader feels like you — not a generic newsletter.

✦ 30-Day Publishing Queue

A calibrated publishing plan you can actually implement:

  • Titles + angles + suggested formats

  • Enough structure to build momentum — not overwhelm or flatten

✦ 2–3 Nurturing Themes

These are not topics — they are threads of meaning that give your Substack publication coherence and resonance:

  • Sample titles

  • Subject line starters

  • Pacing notes

So your publication feels like a living body of work, not random posts.

✦ Quarterly Upgrade Drive Plan (12-Month Calendar Framework)

This is a rhythm, not a drumbeat.

You’ll get:

  • A quarterly cadence for inviting support or upgrades

  • What to publish during a drive

  • What to publish between drives

  • Example CTAs in your voice

A framework that gives permission for asking — without turning every week into a sales pitch.

Integration Support

After delivery, you also receive:

  • 7 days of light Voxer access
For clarification and implementation questions as you begin living into the report

  • This is for application, not expansion

We keep the focus on helping you translate the report into flow — not into another meeting.

This is for you if…

✔ You want your Substack to feel unmistakably like you
✔ You want readers to recognize themselves in your writing
✔ You care about resonance over algorithms
✔ You are ready to translate experience into a readable, compelling presence
✔ You want clarity on how readers enter, stay and deepen over time

And this is not for you if:

✘ You want formulas disconnected from your voice
✘ You want someone to run your Substack for you
✘ You’re publishing purely as a private journal
✘ You’re not ready to reflect on your own language

$499 — The Substack Voice & Welcome Report

This is a contained, deep distillation process. I take on a limited number at a time — not because of scarcity, but because this work requires care.

If you’ve been circling how to show up more clearly — without contorting yourself to fit a formula — this is often the moment the work finally becomes visible.
